SURFING IN SAN DIEGO
The sun is out, the beautiful Pacific Ocean is warming and its time to dust off the cobwebs, get outside and go surfing in San Diego. Honestly San Diego beach life is one of the reason’s it’s called America’s Finest City, and for surfers having a couple of months out of the year where you can surf with no wetsuit, well it’s why the value of real estate here is what it is. If you’re looking for coastal property look here. But if you’re like the masses you’d just be pretty happy to have the ocean and great surf break “15 minutes” from where you call home.
As we established summer months mean you can ditch the wetsuit, choose your favorite bikini or board shorts and brave the ocean waters, whether your a beginner or have been doing this for years. It’s no secret that surfing is good for the mind, body and soul. Here are a few San Diego surf spots to check out this summer starting from easy going learner waves all the way to a heavy wave for experts only.

La Jolla Shores Surf
La Jolla Shores is one of the most popular beaches around and a really great spot to hone your skills and confidence before graduating to the next level. Its close to town and easy to access. There is a year round life guard presence there and is sheltered from the prevailing winds, two things that help when your balancing your own skills and the pointers everyone’s given you before you got in the water. The wave is safe, mellow and non intimidating, the perfect spot to learn.
Oceanside Surf
Oceanside is a long stretch of gentle sand bottom waves. Obviously certain swells can pick up the size and scope of the wave but when its just right, this is also a great wave to gain some skills, grow your confidence and keep working on moving onto the bigger waves. This can be epic on combo south and north swells, attracting some really good surfers
Surfing Cardiff By the Sea, North San Diego
Cardiff is a small rocky bottom beach bordered by reefs on either side, Table tops and Cardiff reefs. These waves are for stronger surfers and can produce some great solid waves during a southwest swell. The back drop is very beautiful while you ride the long waves, but it does attract a lot of people and the crowds can get overwhelming.
Surfing Trestles, North San Diego
Trestles is a world famous break and known for the hike it takes to get down to the water. If your up for it, then you obviously have the fever. This is a river mouth point break at the very tip of northern San Diego. There are many people that have that fever and the wave is a crowded wave filled with very good surfers, said to quite possibly be the best waves in California.
If your not quite feeling Trestles, further down the beach is the famous Old Mans where long boarder and learners can hang out over cobblestone breaks and have a more mellow experience. Old mans is a magical place to be, bbq on the beach, hang out all day, share the good vibes with the friendly faces enjoying the same spoils.
Surfing Horseshoes
This a uncrowded beautiful wave but for experts as it’s a fast and heavy reef break. There’s a parking lot right in front of the water, you can change and just walk straight into the surf.
Go grab a board and throw some sunscreen on and jump in the water and grab a wave for us here at real-estate-property-search.com
