Give Back To Your World
There are many ways to pay your respects to Mother Earth, the community and those less fortunate without your wallet getting lighter or your to do list getting longer.
We chose San Diego because its beautiful, friendly and all around awesome. As part of a community its nice to preserve the reasons we came here and love it so much, here are a few ways to do just that.
Donate
- Goodwill
- Salvation Army
- UCP Thrift store
- SD rescue
These are just a few of the places that you can donate a long list of goodies like used furniture, clothing, toys, clothing, shoes, housewares even cars. Most places even have pick up, you get rid of clutter, things that you don’t need any longer and help someone else in the process. There is a huge list of places you can donate to aside from those above, please check these options out www.utsandiego.com
Recycle
I read recently a quote that resonated. “We are using our planet like we have another to go to.” It’s true, consumerism is a slippery slope, but we can make up for it and in recent years people have been able to make a difference with recycle and reusing.
Dotted all about your Region are centers for recycling all kinds of goods. Go to www.recyclesandiego.org and you can type in what you want to get rid of and a way to do it eco friendly style. From bathtubs to antifreeze to your old VCR, there’s a way to dispose of all things safely and get some planet earth karma points while your at it. If you can’t find exactly how to dispose of it, call and they can help you find a way.
Something you could do today? STOP USING PLASTIC BAGS. Just stop, it’s easy, really, just make the decision and stop.
Give a Dollar
A dollar really can make a difference. We all have been touched by life changing events, why not give back to a research for certain diseases, cancers, animal shelters, homeless shelters. Any number of these charities are doing their best to make the world a better place through the kindness of others and their donations.
Adopt
If your really settled into your new home, an adoption from your local shelter is another great idea.
Now days you can read up on all your adoption options and even find the specific breed you have always wanted. Google the breeds and find rescue shelters for them, or if you just want a best friend, find your local shelter. You can even watch videos of them playing and being dogs, or cats, or even chinchillas. (Not kidding!)
These two furry critters are just two I found waiting for someone like you to give them a new home and better life.
Volunteer
If you have time on your hands and can do it, it is one of the most rewarding things a person can do. Whether at an animal shelter or homeless shelter or kitchen. This is the real deal of giving back. Find out where you can help at this website uwsd.org/volunteer
